Introduction
The College of Engineering was established in the 92nd academic year when the National Ilan University was transformed into a university. Initially, the College of Engineering contained six departments and an independent research institute, including the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, the Department of Environmental Engineering, the Department of Electronic Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, and the Graduate Institute of Architecture. The Graduate Institute of Information Engineering was established in the 95th academic year; at the same time, the Department of Electronic Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Graduate Institute of Information Engineering were merged into the College of Electrical Information. In addition, the Graduate Institute of Architecture was renamed as the Graduate Institute of Architecture and Sustainable Planning, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering was renamed as the Department of Mechanical and Electromechanical Engineering in the 95th academic year. Therefore, there are four departments and a graduate institute in the College of Engineering at present, including the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Electromechanical Engineering, the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, the Department of Environmental Engineering and the Graduate Institute of Architecture and Sustainable Planning.
